Bass3 is a monophonic bass synthesizer enhanced with a SPREAD control that allows for wider stereo sounds. Its few controls make it easy to quickly dial in a nonetheless wide variety of sounds.
It is generally a subtractive synthesizer using a fourth order filter which cutoff frequency can be controlled by an envelope where the decay is adjustable. While there is no general influence of velocity notes can be accented which results in a higher volume and a shorter enhanced envelope. Being a monophonic synthesizer overlapping notes result in a slide to the next note.
Bass3 is based on the open source project Open303. Some modifications were made to the code, mainly regarding the envelope decay, the behavior of the ENV control and the analog envelope. These changes are included in a forked GitHub repository.
Furthermore a multi-oscillator for stereo spreading was added. As this is not a natural addition to the underlying synth this was not included in the forked repository.
Bass3 is available as Rack Extension via the Reasonstudios Shop where it is also possible to get a demo.
